In accordance with Public Law 107-51, U.S. flags are to be lowered to half-staff today — Sunday, May 5 — in honor of the 43rd annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service in Emmitsburg, Md.
This year’s service will memorialize 89 firefighters who died in the line of duty in 2023, and 137 additional firefighters who died in the line of duty in previous years.
Flags are to remain at half-staff until sunset.
