Half-Staff Notification: Patriot Day

In accordance with Public Law 107-89, the United States flag shall be flown at half-staff today — Monday, September 11 — for Patriot Day.

2,977 victims from 93 nations — including 343 firefighters, 72 law enforcement officers, and 55 members of the U.S. armed forces — were killed in New York City, Virginia, and Pennsylvania during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

To date, at least 331 additional firefighters have died from illnesses related to the World Trade Center attacks, rescue, and recovery efforts.

Flags shall remain at half-staff until sunset.
