A Wednesday structure fire in Camden resulted in the deaths of two people.
The Camden Fire Department responded Wednesday afternoon (August 23) to a reported residential fire with possibly trapped victims in the 100 block of Fairview Road SE. Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy fire and smoke throughout the structure, and immediately began search and rescue efforts.
One victim, a female, was located and removed from the structure, with CPR and other life-saving measures started by firefighters on scene before she was transported by ambulance to Ouachita County Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. A second victim, a male, was located shortly thereafter and pronounced dead by the Ouachita County Coroner’s Office.
The origin and cause of the fire are currently under investigation. Further information will be released in future news releases.
